AstroCamp 2021: 10o Θερινό Σχολείο Αστρονομίας – Φυσικής για μαθητές Λυκείου. Διοργάνωση: Κέντρο Ερευνών Αστροφυσικής, Πανεπιστήμιο του Πόρτο, Πορτογαλία

AstroCamp is an academic programme in the field of astronomy and physics, stimulating curiosity and critical thinking, organised by the Centre for Astrophysics of the University of Porto (CAUP) and supported by several national and international partners, including ESO.

The 10th edition will be from 8 to 22 August 2021. The program is intended for students from 42 eligible countries, in one of their final three years of education before university.

Students will come together in a secluded and tranquil setting away from the stresses of urban centres and take two courses consisting of daily classes, assignments, and a final exam. Other highlights include:

- A computational project, enabling the students to learn high-level scientific programming and work with data from the world's best telescopes

- Observing the dark night skies with the naked eye and telescopes (including the Perseids meteor shower)

- Skype chats with top astronomers and physicists from different countries and at different stages in their careers

- Social activities like hiking, sports, and film and documentary sessions.

Applications close on 30 April 2021. A motivation letter is required, in addition to a recommendation letter and recent academic results.

Suggestions and guidelines for the contents of the application can be found on the AstroCamp website. The shortlisted candidates, selected according to their motivation and academic merit, will be invited to an interview during the weekend of 29-30 May.

The successful candidates will be announced around 4 June and will need to confirm attendance and complete the required paperwork by 13 June.
