AstroCamp2016: Θερινό Σχολείο Φυσικής/Αστρονομίας, Ερευνητικό Κέντρο Αστροφυσικής, Πανεπιστήμιο του Πόρτο, Πορτογαλία.

Since 2012 the Center for Astrophysics of the University of Porto (CAUP, Portugal) organizes a 2-week physics/astronomy summer school for bright high-school students. In the first 4 editions (2012-15) participation was limited to Portuguese students. Starting in the 2016 edition, we will accept applications from students in the last 3 years of pre-university education in any European Union country (ie, those born in the years 1998, 1999 or 2000).

This is a selective activity (meaning that the candidates need to go through an application process, including an interview). The relevant dates and other information can be found at the AstroCamp website, which is http://www.astro.up.pt/astrocamp/en/

For Portuguese students that are accepted, the camp is totally free (ie, we cover all their costs). Non-Portuguese students who are offered places will in principle need to cover some of their costs (estimated to be ca. 400 Euro plus the cost of the flight to Porto), but we may also help them to find funding from local entities.

We would be grateful if you could transmit this information to students who may be interested, and encourage them to apply. For additional information please feel free to contact the camp e-mail (astrocamp@astro.up.pt), or directly, the Course Director, Carlos Martins (carlos.martins@astro.up.pt).
